Abbey Mill Coffee Shop and Tea Rooms was opened in September 2008 as a small, family run business. Our plan was to open an outside catering kitchen but imediately our business changed direction with the opening of the Roose to Furness Abbey Greenway. We have now been open for over 10 years and provide breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea as well as outside catering. We are also fully licenced. We are situated at the bottom of a natural amphitheatre overlooking the stunning 11th century Furness Abbey.
Its not suprising our usual customers are walkers, cyclist, runners or tourists as the outside space and beautiful scenery is stunning.
Alongside us is the Roose to furness Abbey greenway, a family walk along the river and through the farm, past the medieval Bow Bridge, suitable for cycles and prams. Approximately 1.5 miles to the far end of the path (Roose Railway station).
Abbots wood above Abbey Mill has several well trodden paths and is a beautiful blanket of bluebells in the spring with plenty of nature and wildlife to be spotted.
We have plenty of winter walkers, cyclists and runners throughout the winter months who enjoy a steaming bowl of homemade soup around the log burner or a luxury hot chocolate or mulled wine.
